Enugu State Targets 690MW and 20-Hour Power Supply by 2030

The signing ceremony took place at the Government House Enugu and was hailed as a crucial step towards creating a robust and independent electricity market in the state. The new law establishes the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) as the independent regulatory authority overseeing electricity operations across Enugu State.

In a historic move, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently gave fillip to the long agitation for the decentralisation of the power sector. From last Wednesday, the regulatory oversight of the Enugu electricity market has been transferred to the state government vide the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC). The EERC Chairman and Commissioners met with the Honourable Attorney General (AG) of Enugu State on 12th September 2024 for a pivotal advocacy session. The discussions focused on ensuring a more holistic legal framework that safeguards investments and promotes a stable energy market.
